  • POWRGARD® Mouthgards

    We are one of a few practices in Ireland and the UK to supply the POWRGARD® Mouthgards. These are specially for wearing with braces and can be difficult to source. With it's advanced technology and patented design, these mouthgards provide maximum protection and are ideal for all high impact sports. They mould firmly to the teeth to provide exceptional comfort and support and are suitable for adults or children from ages 13 and up.

    Powrgard Mouthgards for Braces

    As one of the few providers of Myobraces in Ireland, we can supply PowrGard mouthgards from the Myobrace appliance range. When you or your child is wearing fixed braces you need a mouthgard that will fit over those braces. The PowrGard mouthgard has a special channel to fit over braces and wires. It can be remoulded as needed and adapts as your teeth move position.

     

    We are delighted to be able to provide these high quality mouthgards. Finding mouthgards suitable for use with braces is difficult. The PowrGard range is excellent and, using the latest in technology, these mouthgards provide comfort and protection.

    Powrgard Junior Gum Shield

    The Powrgard Junior gum shield is for children between ages five and nine years. The design offers genuine protection for young athletes with a wide variety of sports and activities, including martial arts.
     
    They come pre-moulded with the correct arch form to give the most comfortable fit. The advanced technology design dramatically reduces the potential for concussion and gives the wearer the opportunity to perform at their best.
     
    Made from a high quality single layer EVA, the mouth-guard's thickened base helps in protection of the jaw joints and jarring impacts. It is designed to be easy to mould, due to minimal moulding, and comfortable to wear. The Powrgard Junior Gum Shield comes in clear colour only is suitable for all junior sports.

  • PowrGuard Mouthguard Fitting Instructions

    1. Put mouthguard (tongue tag down) into a bowl of freshly boiled water (100C / 212F) for 90 seconds maximum
    2. Lift mouthguard gently from water using a spoon
    3. Cool under tap water for 1 second only bringing surface temperature to a comfortable level. Quickly move onto the next step.
    4. Watching in mirror, line up centre of the mouthguard with centre line of upper teeth and proceed rapidly with steps 5-7
    5. Fit mouthguard into upper teeth (tongue tag up) and press firmly into front teeth and molars
    6. Put tip of tongue on tag and close mouth while biting down hard on mouthguard
    7. Suck in strongly and press edges of the mouthguard into teeth and gumline through the lips and cheeks for 20 seconds. Remove from mouth and cool under tap water for 1 minute. Replace in mouth and test for a good, firm fit.

    Cleaning and Care

    Mouthguards are a perfect breeding ground for bacterial growth. Bacteria get trapped in crevices and pores of the material and if not cleaned properly, the germs can flourish and multiply. Make sure to rinse your mouthgard after each use and store in a clean, dry area.
